Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a training certificate, indicating that they have been trained on how to effectively manage an Express Exterior car wash. A Master’s certificate can be earned by the successful completion of additional classroom programs.  The Car Wash Management training certificate indicates that the student has learned to:

After Day 1:

  1. Understand the three elements of building a successful team
  2. Create and develop new ideas that create a competitive edge for your car wash
  3. Recognize what all employees must know in order to be successful at their job
  4. Recognize what a manager needs to know in order to successfully manage the facility
  5. Apply conveyor entrance guide on procedures
  6. Understand the importance of performing a facility cleanliness checklist
  7. Understand how to schedule management and staff employees and the policies that affect the scheduling process
  8. Understand the importance of, and begin the development of an employee policy manual

After Day 2:

  1. Identify the characteristics that are important when hiring new employees
  2. Utilize the most effective methods for finding or recruiting help
  3. Match employee characteristics to the proper job
  4. Screen phone interviews so that only the most qualified candidates are brought in for face-to-face interviewing
  5. Properly interview potential employees/managers
  6. Apply best practices on probing for information – what to ask
  7. Understand the importance of employee orientation
  8. Complete necessary documents needed when hiring a new employee
  9. Hold effective meetings
  10. Build a team environment based around listening, consensus and trust

After Day 3:

  1. Train new employees/existing employees effectively
  2. Conduct new task training procedures
  3. Coach new and existing employees
  4. Carry out disciplinary measures for employees
  5. Effectively communicate with employees and customers
  6. Deal with problem cars
  7. Recognize the most frequent types of damage at a conveyor car wash
  8. Identify the types of tunnel equipment that may cause damage
  9. Implement basic damage prevention training
  10. Handle damage claims
  11. Apply the L.A.S.T. method
  12. Properly complete a damage claim

After Day 4:

  1. Analyze financial results
  2. Manage operational costs
  3. Conduct and record a chemical inventory
  4. Understand the systems and reporting
  5. Understand and complete opening and closing checklists
  6. Comprehend a Profit & Loss statement
  7. Indentify labor goals
  8. Hold people accountable at the car wash

After Day 5:

  1. Interpret and apply safety and OSHA regulations
  2. Implement hazard communication and personal protection programs
  3. Understand an MSDS
  4. Market a car wash
  5. Create an action plan on improving a car wash
